2021 Porsche Carrera Cup- Round 4 & 5 Bathurst NSW

2021 Porsche Carrera Cup- Round 4 & 5 Bathurst NSW

Challenging weekend for Bob Jane T-Marts Porsches at Bathurst

The final rounds of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia for the Bob Jane T-Marts Sonic Motor Racing Services entries started off modestly, however ended early. A double round, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia contested two nine lap sprints and a pair of 15 lap endurance events. Drivers Simon Fallon and Michael Almond made steady progress after finishing the opening practice session line astern in 10th and 11th. The pair repeated this performance in qualifying, while Race 1 both made up positions to be well placed within the top 10. Almond finished strongly in eighth, while Fallon was ninth.

However, Race 2 proved to be a disappointing end for Bob Jane T-Marts’ campaign in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, with Almond a non-starter due to dehydration. Fallon was running strongly in the top 10 when a collision at Reid Park severely damaged his Bob Jane T-Marts Porsche, ending his weekend. “It was an unfortunate result for us obviously, but we’ll move on, move forward onwards,” said Fallon. “It’s been a bit of an up and down season for all of us. Lots of highs, lots of lows and lots of learning, but it’s good to come away, and get a restart next year. “We’ll run into next year taking all the learnings we’ve taken in from this year and hopefully be challenging for the top podium positions.”

For 2022, a new Cup Car will be introduced into the mix, adding further spice to the highly-competitive Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series.
